Just Checking In

O Lordy, I've been so rubbish at blogging lately.  That little thing called "life" just keeps getting in the way!  *must get the HTML sorted out!*

Just a quick post to check in and to showcase some of my latest creations.  I mentioned before that I had some lovely stash for my birthday and I have been playing with that but the addition of the Julie Nutting doll stamps by Prima to my collection has really given me a surge of inspiration and I've had so much fun playing with them.  So much so I just had to stock them in my shop!
Here are some of the things I've made using them.

My newest addiction: tags!  They are so fun to create.  They come together so quickly that its almost instant satisfaction!  They fit perfectly with my lifestyle where I can only snatch five minutes here, ten minutes there between nappy changes and cleaning yoghurt off the tv cabinet!  Creating these got me thinking of other things that i could use the dolls on and it lead me to create this notebook:

The only problem is that Im so pleased with it I don't want to use it in case I ruin it! Lol

I also found an old canvas that I had ripped a scrapbook page off that I no longer liked and rather than bin it i altered it with a doll stamp!

Of course when I learned that Prima were releasing new dolls I immediately ordered them in and they arrived earlier this week.  I have been playing with some of them already and I will post some pics of my creations later.

Ta ta for now

Maintenance

Apologies for the appearance of my blog, I am in the process of restoring the backgrounds after a HTML code update. It's all a bit technical and I'm afraid I take a bit longer than most to get my head around it lol.
This month has been manic for me and Mr L. It's our birthday month, mine 4 weeks before his which was yesterday! Throw some hospital appointments for the boys in the mix and you realise you haven't blogged in a month!!! I've given myself a stern talking to and I will have the blog looking spic and span in no time.
Mr L thoroughly spoilt me for my birthday and I had a huge box of goodies that I've been playing around with since then. I will post some pics soon.

Speak soon :-)

Thanks to everyone that attended Thursdays class. We had a wonderful night, if a little busy and surprisingly not as messy as I had anticipated! I think most people went home with almost one of the five layouts finished lol. I like to keep you all busy :-). I will continue to bring the relevant tools to the Scrapbus crops until people have worked through the full class.
The next class is likely to be early July but I'll keep you all informed as and when things develop.

Ta ta for now x

Class Announcement

Hi everyone.
Sorry for taking so long to get the details of my next class up on the blog. We've had an eventful couple of weeks to say the least! Having my car written off in the mix was just a step too far last week. Anyway, I've picked myself up and dusted myself down and finally here are the details of the next class.

Thursday 7th March 2013 @ Graig Community Centre 6pm til 9pm - £30

This class will be a 5 layout kit with 2 of these being taught on the night. The remaining 3 will have full colour instructions. As always there will be lots of left overs giving you the potential for more layouts/mini books of your own design.

I will endeavour to have teasers of the layouts on the blog this weekend. The full layouts will be photographed and emailed to everyone who is attending the class to enable photo preparation. (If you are attending and don't think I have your email address, just drop me an email and I will add you to my list).

At present this class is sold out! But if you really did want to come I do have a cancellations list that you can be put on. Again just drop me an email.

In the meantime I have some more file box left overs photos! This time from Audrey Harris, who has been using her scraps to make cards. This is a beautiful card. Well done Audrey.

This is all that remains of Dootie the snowman! It has taken all weekend to help our little boy come to terms with the loss!

Here is my latest class for Scrapbus. It uses the Little Boy Blue paper line from Crate Paper. I must admit that I wasn't a fan of this paper line and I really struggled to be inspired by them. I must have stared at the papers for at least an hour before I even cut into them and when I did start I changed my mind and ended up taking the layout apart and doing something completely different. Eventually I came up with this layout and I'm really pleased with it. I'll be teaching it next Saturday at the Graig Community Hall, Bassaleg. If you fancy coming along, drop Scrapbus an email to book.

Just a quick note to let you all know that my January sale will continue into February's crop but that will be the last chance for savings on Tonic Studios and Stix 2 products. Each of these ranges currently has 10% off. Lots of other products in the sale too so don't miss out!

About time!

I know I've been banging on about the things I made from the left overs of my file box class. I thought I'd best post some of them before they become a distant memory!
The first thing I did was alter my diary! It was way too boring and the class kit left overs seemed just right for the job.
The second item is a little wooden chest of drawers that I'd bought for my sons bedroom. It was too distressing to watch a perfectly good set of drawers just thrown into his toy box. So I rescued them and turned them into a trinket box that matches my file box. They look so pretty next to one another.
It really was the kit that just kept giving!

Introducing Dootie

Well we did it. We made a snowman and he was named "Dootie" by my little boy! Thought I'd share him with you all.

Snow Day!!!

And what a lot of snow it is too! I'd have done anything for this amount of snow when I was a kid. The opportunity to take our black bags over to Beechwood park to slide down the hills with practically every other kid in Newport, wearing our shell suits and ear muffs, coming back home soaking wet, more mud than child where we'd worn the snow out! Ready to eat our Heinz cream of mushroom soup whilst watching PJ and Duncan in Biker Grove. They were the snow days I like to remember.
Today's snow day has been spent, much like any other day, running around after the kids and trying to maintain an acceptable level of "chaos" in the house, all the while failing miserably and instead hiding in the kitchen with a cup of coffee however the difference today has been the addition of Mr L. Who has been home from work! Don't get me wrong, I love having him around and so do the kids but, BUT the "chaos" becomes somewhat enhanced when he is around. Add to that snow! and you end the day with a giant glass of baileys! Say no more.
It's not been all bad. Alright I may have broken the tumble dryer door in a small outburst of emotion but I am human and I had asked it to shut nicely three or four times prior to my final attempt :-)
In all seriousness, taking my sons out in the snow for the first time was priceless. Their little faces as they sunk their feet, legs and knees! into the snow, trying to walk and making themselves laugh because they couldn't! Feeling just how cold it was and realising that mummy really was right to insist on clothes! You can't buy that and the hour of stress to get them out for that five minute walk was definitely worth it. Tomorrow we're building a snowman!

I thought I'd just share some of the tags I prepared for the crop on Saturday to show off some of the uses for the glimmer mists and inks that I have available. The resist techniques are particularly beautiful both on the large tag and on the canvas shapes. I had so much fun getting messy last week and also taking myself out of my comfort zone and challenging myself to do something different. I've always tended to leave messy stuff for other people but not anymore!

January sales

Sorry it's late. Just a quick note to let you know that I will be having a January sale. There will be 10% off all Stix 2 and Tonic Studios products and 20% off krylon pens and past kits. Lots of new things this month in addition to more my stik glue guns and refills in both permanent and repositionable.
Looking forward to tomorrow's crop and keeping my fingers crossed that the weather doesn't stop us!

Thursday, January 10, 2013

It has been a huge bump back to normality this week as the normal routines resume. A new nursery and 3 appointments have made it a busy one.
Thank goodness that It's the first Scrapbus crop of the New Year this Saturday and I'm very excited to be able to escape to a scrapping haven for the day. I will be leaving the chaos in Mr L's hands to enjoy some much needed me time. As always I will be bringing my wares! New glimmer mists and Tim Holtz inks to add to the mix as well as a few other little bits and bobs. Most notably some prima canvas resist shapes. They really are divine. I've been playing all week in the name of research (well someone had to).
I will also have the details of my next class available and I will post this to the blog next week.

I'm off to play, I mean test, the products again.
See you Saturday

Happy New Year!

I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and New Year. Ours seemed to fly by! but then every day seems to when you've got small kids. With our eldest son's birthday on New Years Eve I feel like I've been submerged in a week long carnival of wrapping paper and noisy toys! I'm looking forward to nursery starting back and normality resuming.

I have however managed to snatch the odd moment in amongst all the madness and have been working on the details of my next class and stocking up on lots of yummy stuff for the shop. I'll be sure to update you all when I have fine tuned it all.

I'm off now to put a very over tired baby back to bed for the gazillionth time. (I'd love to know where they get their energy from).

Speak soon
Amber :-)
